O2 Arena

Audience comfort during concerts is an important part of the overall audience experience. An investigation was carried out at the O2 Arena during a concert to determine the response of the stands and to check that they did not create too much bounce with real audience activity.
AEG commissioned an investigation into stand response, in which we monitored the dynamic response of the stand at various points simultaneously. We carried out this investigation by measuring the vibration levels at these points and identifying the resonant frequencies during a concert. Extensive analysis was required at each frequency. Advice was given on the condition of the stands, and the correlation between vibrations and audience activity during particular songs, which saw notable activity when observed.
