Updated: Oct 17

At Sustainable Acoustics, we believe that sound plays a crucial role in creating a more sustainable, healthier, and more liveable world. As part of our commitment to leadership in our field and our drive to accelerate positive change, we are excited to announce a new initiative: we are reaching out to all the main parties in the newly formed Parliament.

Why are we doing this?

After 10 years and with only 7 more to go before 2030 (or 1.3 parliamentary cycles) the formation of a new Parliament represents a critical juncture in our nation's journey towards sustainability and Net Zero. It's an opportunity to ensure that the often-overlooked realm of acoustics is firmly embedded in the policies and plans that will shape our future.

Our Vision – Integration of Acoustics into Sustainable Development

We envision a future where acoustic considerations are an integral part of sustainable development. From urban planning to healthcare, from education to renewable energy, intelligent acoustic design can contribute significantly to improving quality of life, enhancing wellbeing, and supporting our transition to a greener economy.

Engaging Across the Political Spectrum with the New UK Parliament

We recognise that achieving lasting change requires collaboration across political divides. That's why we're writing to all the main parties - Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, and the Green Party. Our message to each is tailored to align with their specific manifesto commitments and priorities, demonstrating how acoustic expertise can help them achieve their goals for the nation.

Key Areas of Focus

In our communications, we're highlighting several key areas where acoustics can make a significant impact:

  1. Environmental Protection and Climate Change Mitigation

  2. Public Health and Wellbeing

  3. Sustainable Housing and Urban Development

  4. Education and Workplace Productivity

  5. Renewable Energy Integration

  6. Transport and Infrastructure

Our Commitment - Offering Solutions

As leaders in our field, we're not just pointing out challenges - we're offering solutions. We're making ourselves available as a resource to policymakers, offering our expertise to help shape policies that integrate acoustic considerations for a more sustainable future.

Call to Action – A Catalyst for Change

We believe that this initiative can be a catalyst for change, but we can't do it alone. We're calling on our colleagues in the acoustic engineering field, as well as professionals in related disciplines, to join us in this effort. Together, we can raise awareness about the importance of acoustics in creating a sustainable future and drive meaningful policy changes.

The Road Ahead – Ongoing Engagement for a Positive Change

This outreach to the new Parliament is just the beginning. We're committed to ongoing engagement with policymakers, industry leaders, and the public to ensure that acoustics remains at the forefront of discussions about sustainability and quality of life.

We're excited about the potential for positive change and look forward to working with all parties to create a more sustainable, healthier, and harmonious future for all.

Stay tuned for updates on our progress and opportunities to get involved. Together, we can make sound a powerful force for good in our world.
